The images were found in a file named 'Grimsby' on a document sharing website and contained more than 7, pictures. A revenge porn warning has been issued after hundreds of women from one town are believed to have had naked and explicit pictures shared online. The images were found in a file named 'Grimsby' on a document sharing website and contained more than 7, documents. One victim has described her horror after finding an image she sent to her boyfriend among the huge hoard of explicit images.
It is now believed hundreds of women from Grimsby, Cleethorpes and the surrounding area were featured in the file, reports Grimsby Live.
The year-old victim said: "I can't believe it was shared and I have no idea how it got there. But there are literally thousands of photos. I have not slept for two days since I found out.
But there are loads from Grimsby and Cleethorpes. It is like it is the majority of girls from this area. I thought I could trust him. But when we split up he posted it. The woman does not wish to be identified "for fear of people dis-respecting her in her workplace. The victim said: "I never knew it existed until a friend told me about a lad who had seen loads of photos of local women on the app.
It backs up your iPhone and somehow someone has hacked into it. She added: "When I was given a link I could see the Grimsby folder at the top and there are thousands of images. Other towns which are listed have just a few. She believes because of the sheer number of victims from the area, someone local has been involved. She said: "It must be someone in Grimsby who is behind it. There are loads of people who have downloaded the data from the app. It has come from cities from all over the world.
Most are of underage girls. It was a friend who told me I was on it. My friend was having a go at a boy with a phone. The woman added: "I am upset for everyone else who has appeared. These are young women, with files after files after files of indecent pictures. You could tell per cent that these pictures were not intended to end up on the internet like this. She said: "Every woman I know is there and none knew anything about this behind their backs because if that was the case this would have been gone a long time ago.
None will have given consent. As soon as I saw this I cried. Giving advice to other women, she said: "Please be careful who you share your body with through the media. This goes for women and men. I know what it is like to want to give your partner everything they want when you're so happy and content and I know it is a thing nowadays to send nudes. But please be careful who you send them to because seeing this has scarred me for life.
It is not clear whether their phones have been hacked or they are victims of revenge porn. People clicking on the link will find the place name folders which then reveals the names of women, often including their first and last name.
When the host files were exposed in May, the unnamed website said it had disabled links to the files. It said it did not tolerate illegal activity and its policy was to disable links and close user's accounts. Although the Grimsby woman had only seen photos , it is understood the site contains videos as well as images. Humberside Police have urged anyone who has been a victim of revenge porn to screen shot any evidence. Since April it is a criminal offence to disclose private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress.
In November last year it was revealed just three people had been convicted of revenge porn. This is particularly important for young people in starting out in new relationships.
